Therapy for Women
As women we are more than likely to experience multiple roles, which can provoke stress and conflicts when the roles are overlapped. Our stories are not always easy. We will work together as a team to navigate life’s challenges so you can feel more confident, capable, and content.
Issues that most commonly affect women:
Mood disorders: depression and bipolar disorder.
Anxiety disorders: panic attacks, OCD, PTSD.
Eating disorders: negative thoughts about body shape and weight.
Major life transitions: breakup, marriage, career, etc.
Infertility: devastating experience for women who are trying to get pregnant, which can lead to depression and emotional trauma.
Domestic Violence: emotional, physical, verbal or psychological and most often presents itself through name-calling, stalking, violence, humiliation and manipulation by the abuser.
Hormonal Changes: Mood changes due to puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause.
Low Self-Esteem / Low Self Worth: It typically takes root in childhood, an abusive relationship or through bullying and may lead to obsessive, negative thoughts.
Sexual abuse: it can be from sexual harassment to rape which is hugely traumatic and often leads to depression, anxiety and PTSD.
Maternal Mental Health
From the moment you became pregnant, your doctor, family, or friends probably have told you repeatedly to focus on having a healthy baby. What about your health and birthing experience? The perinatal and motherhood period can be inspiring, beautiful and empowering, but becoming a mother can be overwhelming because it changes everything, including how you see yourself. As a mother of two young children, I understand the challenges you are facing as a mother. You don’t need to navigate motherhood alone.
In my practice, I support women who are planning to conceive, expecting, postpartum, and parenting children of all ages. Each of these stages bring new joys and challenges.
Reasons to reach out for help:
Feeling guilty and thinking that you’re not a good mother
Feeling overwhelmed and wondering if you should have become a mother in the first place
Old anxieties, depression, or traumas reemerging
Stressful family dynamics
Previous pregnancy loss or infertility
Not feeling “bonded” with your baby
Balancing work and motherhood or SAHM life
Racing thoughts and the sense that you can’t quiet your mind
Single parenting
Isolating
Therapy for Adolescent Girls
Being a teenager is one of the hardest periods of any girl’s life. Teenagers worry about grades, friends, body image, social status, and how other people see and think of them. Transitioning from childhood to adulthood requires great adjustment. Raising a teenager is hard, but being a teen in today’s world is so much harder. Most parents find it challenging to talk to their teens because most adolescents are unable to define their feelings or they’re having a hard time to describe what’s bothering them. That’s where counseling comes in. I will help your daughter to reconnect to herself and guide you to meet where she’s at.
Issues that most commonly affect adolescents:
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) — also known as attention deficit disorder (ADD)
Anxiety and depression
Low self-esteem
Bullying and cyberbullying
Alcohol and drugs
Body image
Sexual risk behaviors/teen pregnancy
Tobacco use
